On Stage 展台

How a messaging company learns to present itself as an AI company: a first overseas brand push, a logo argued from four sketches into one mark, print kits for two trade floors, and a 93-minute primer that taught the LLM industry through SMS.

The record

A company that sells messaging had to learn to show itself as an AI company — in English, on trade floors, in print. This chapter is the design and the stage: a brand push, a logo system, two trade shows, and the trainings that taught colleagues to work with agents.

Before MWC Shanghai came the first overseas brand push and a LinkedIn page set up overnight. In July, a logo for the company's AI governance platform was argued into existence from four sketches. In September, a full print kit for the Wholesale World Congress in Madrid — every QR code decode-tested.

The stage also meant teaching. A 93-minute primer explained the whole LLM industry through the SMS business the team already knew, and hands-on trainings scored colleagues on real work done with agents. The trade floor and the training room turned out to need the same skill: making something complicated feel obvious.

A beginner's guide to AI skills

A 13-page Chinese guide for anyone new to AI agents, on when and how to turn a successful agent session into a reusable skill file: a decision framework, an operating procedure, a template, two worked examples and a one-page checklist. Its argument in one line: a skill is not a longer prompt — it is a reusable instruction manual for the AI.

Completed

The first overseas brand push

Ahead of MWC Shanghai, the company's first overseas brand push: a brand-communications group; an alignment meeting on the English name, logo, website and positioning; a checklist of materials and support; a plan for the English website and LinkedIn; and a task board of twenty items that colleagues could claim for themselves. The goal was simple — to arrive at an international show looking like one company, in English.

Completed

The company's LinkedIn page

Set up and launched the company's LinkedIn page overnight on 10–11 June 2026, ahead of MWC Shanghai: logo, cover, tagline, about text, website, industry and size, kept strictly on the Yuexin International brand. The artwork came from a brand pack made by a colleague; the work here was the page itself — and the decision that the company should have one before the show.

Live

MWC Shanghai 2026

On the stand with the Yuexin International team for all three days of MWC Shanghai 2026, 24–26 June at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The weeks before the show went into meeting research from public sources and personalised outreach to exhibitors and partners; the days after, into following up. It was the company's first international show under its new English brand — and the first trade floor of the year.

Attended

Bilingual business cards, and a brochure rebuilt as vectors

Designed Chinese and English business cards from the official website palette and the vector logo, generated as editable SVG and PDF by script rather than by hand; then rebuilt the company's bi-fold brochure as clean vectors, with its QR codes regenerated. The system was later packaged into an editable template so that colleagues could make their own cards — one design for the whole team.

Completed

Hands-on AI agent training for operations teams

Ran the operations team's second round of hands-on agent training as lead trainer and technical judge. Each colleague demonstrated a real task running through an AI agent and was scored on time saved, quality, human review and reusability; the sessions covered browser and computer use, cross-app automation, memory and skills, scheduling and alerts. The cases were written up for reuse, and a case-based ‘AI work assistant’ boot camp was designed for the sales department.

Completed

‘Trust Joint 2.0’: a logo system argued into existence

An identity for the company's proposed enterprise-AI governance platform, YueXin AI Nexus (阅信智枢): two independent modules joined by one continuous, controlled central path — standing for identity, permission, budget, evidence and hand-off — in violet and amber, clearly apart from the existing red-blue-green ring. Four directions were explored with AI sketches and then audited for silhouette, legibility at small sizes and similarity to existing marks; the chosen mark was rebuilt by hand as vectors on a 1000-unit grid. The delivery: 20 master SVGs, app icons, print files, a 14-page brand guide and a record of how it was made.

Completed

‘From SMS to Intelligent Channels’: a 93-minute LLM primer

An in-person AI fundamentals session for technical and business staff on 5 August 2026, recorded at 1 hour 33 minutes, that explained the LLM industry through the SMS business: an SMS is billed per 70 characters and a model per token, so the team's instinct for counting characters transfers directly. It covered the value chain, tokens and cost, context and caching, retrieval, fine-tuning, agents, hallucination, private deployment, throughput, API aggregation and gateways, and the six questions customers always ask. The materials — a 24-slide deck, a 60-minute script and a handbook with an 81-term glossary, self-tests and customer-dialogue drills — were finalised the next day.

‘Intelligence. Delivered.’ — the WWC print and digital kit

In three design rounds over four days, the trade-show kit for the Wholesale World Congress: an English one-pager headlined ‘Intelligence. Delivered.’; a series of single sheets on the company, international messaging, model access and the ecosystem; then — after the team's prep meeting — three double-sided A4 leaflets in English and Chinese with one QR code per sheet, an English company introduction, a supplier questionnaire and business cards for the delegation. Everything was built through an HTML-to-PDF pipeline, and every QR code was decode-tested before print.

Shipped

‘People. Connected.’ — a contact site for the delegation

A contact microsite for the Wholesale World Congress delegation, reached from a 19 mm QR code on each business card: a page per person with messaging, LinkedIn, email, website and save-contact links, plus a browser-based card editor so that each person can maintain their own. It went live on the company's connect subdomain and was decode-tested card by card.

Live

An interactive SMS market map

A market map shared internally one morning became a public, dependency-free web page the same day: five columns of buying logic; six customer segments with their explicit and implicit needs; three use cases — one-time passcodes, transactional notices and permission marketing — each with metrics and typical objections; the flows of supply, money and feedback; and a seven-step path to a deal. It exports PNG and per-segment briefs, prints cleanly, and was revised to V1.1 the same day after three separate AI review passes on content, usability and release safety.

Live

WWC 2026, Madrid

With the Yuexin International team at the Wholesale World Congress 2026 in Madrid (16–18 September), the carrier-wholesale industry's annual meeting, looking for partners in SMS routes, one-time passcodes, RCS and eSIM. On site: a live bilingual meeting schedule kept in Madrid and Beijing time, and supplier dossiers written into the team knowledge base during the show. Then a flight back to Bristol, straight into the new academic year — from trade floor to lecture theatre.
